Veterans of Foreign Wars of Ohio Awards Grant to Ohio’s Hospice Loving Care
Ohio’s Hospice Loving Care was one of eight rural hospices in Ohio to receive a grant of $17,742 for patient care from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Ohio (VFW).
The grant is part of the VFW’s Hospice Grant Fund, which supports small hospice programs that provide services to the underserved and rural populations, and to patients and families who do not have the funds for end-of-life care.
“Our goal is to provide support to community-based small hospice organizations that have direct patient care costs beyond the means of normal reimbursement,” said Daniel Faulkner, state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Ohio. “We appreciate the work and compassion that Ohio’s Hospice Loving Care provides to Veterans and their families.”
Founded in 1993, Ohio’s Hospice Loving Care has been serving the communities of Union and Madison counties.
“We’re grateful to be a recipient of the Hospice Grant Fund from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Ohio. This grant will help us in our mission to provide superior care and superior services to the patients and families we have the privilege of serving,” said Renee Sparks, general manager/executive vice president of Ohio’s Hospice Loving Care. “The grant will help us cover the costs of services that are not covered by insurance. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of our patients and families in the communities we serve.”
Ohio’s Hospice Loving Care provides services that are above and beyond the standard hospice Medicare requirement. Holistic care in the form of psychotherapy, supportive counseling, and grief and spiritual support is provided to patients and their families.
